AIR STATION HAWAI‘I

The initial Parley AIR Station in Honolulu launched in 2021 to provide a platform for more than 40 nonprofit collaborators, schools, artists, and activists to share their work with thousands of visitors through daily workshops, community Sunset Sessions, and school field trips — raising awareness of plastic pollution, climate change and solutions through the Parley AIR Strategy (Avoid, Intercept, Redesign). After three years on the grounds of the Bishop Museum, it was time for a new home and community.

On February 8, 2025, after a year of discussions with property owners, government entities, schools, nonprofits, and the community, the newly dubbed Kahākūkahi Ocean Academy at the Parley AIR Station (KOAPAIR) launched with a beautiful ceremony and is now officially providing support to the local community of Maui and beyond. Open seven days a week, this outdoor community classroom is dedicated to uplifting Maui’s youth by fostering environmental awareness, ocean literacy and connection to nature. Together we offer free programs including ocean sports and safety education, cultural literacy, environmental stewardship mentorship, beach cleanups, and community-driven events.

Parley AIR Station Collaborations

Our friends at SCH will take visitors on a journey to discover how we ended up in a world covered by plastics, how our “throwaway lifestyle” has disconnected us from the environment, and what steps we can take to break up with plastic.

In synergy with ongoing research and exhibits, Bishop Museum educators will explore the importance of coral reefs to Hawaiʻi's marine ecosystems, their significance in Hawaiian culture, and need to protect and preserve them for our future.

Join us in personalized guided ocean immersion clinics for Parley AIR Station youth. Clinics happen once a quarter at Pokai Bay, and will empower keiki to feel more confident playing in and exploring the oceans.

Huli is a collective of ocean-based individuals who promote environmental stewardship and cultural awareness. The goal is to inspire the next generation to be exceptional stewards of their land, ocean, and islands by instilling a deep sense of Aloha for the world around them. Huli collaborates with the Parley AIR Station by hosting Ocean Immersion clinics at Maunalua Bay.

Our educators host introductory Parley AIR Talks and discussions to inspire students to fall in love with the oceans, understand our impact on them, and access tools to take action. We also host upcycling workshops to redesign plastic waste from local beaches.

Kahākūkahi is a Nonprofit organization that focuses on Creating a learning environment and mentorship opportunities that introduces Keiki (children) to ocean sports, stewardship, and nurturing a healthy relationship with the kai (sea) and ʻāina (land).
